Annuals
are plants that live for one season. While most perennial plants flower during a certain time period, annual plants will flower all season long. Spring blooming annuals such as pansies and violas, will bloom early spring until the temperatures become too hot. Summer blooming annuals will flower all summer long, until the first frost in the fall.
Spring-Blooming Annuals can be planted when day & night-time temperatures are above freezing (32 degrees).
Summer Blooming Annuals can be planted after all danger of a frost is past or when day & night-time temperatures don’t go below 40 degrees.
Fall Blooming Annuals are sometimes planted to freshen up containers after the summer heat. They will flower until the first autumn frost.

Bring all containers or hanging baskets inside your garage or porch overnight while freezing temperatures persist
Cover any plants that are planted in the ground. You can use an old bedsheet, a plastic garbage bag, tarp, frost cloth or anything that covers the plant and keeps the frost from touching the leaves or flowers.
